“It is the mission of the Tyrone Police Department to protect the lives and property of the people we are sworn to serve, to reduce and prevent crime, and to enhance the quality of life within our jurisdictional limits. The men and women of the Tyrone Police Department are committed to serve and protect our community with honor and integrity, while conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards at all times to maintain public confidence.”
The Tyrone Police Department is made up of two divisions:
- Uniform Patrol; and
- Criminal Investigations
Major Van Brock serves as our Director of Operations, responsible for the oversight of both of these functional areas.
The Uniform Patrol Division is the backbone of the agency providing 24/7 patrol, traffic enforcement, and emergency response services to our citizens. In 2010, the UPD handled over 10,000 incidents to include citizen calls for service, accidents, and officer initiated activities.
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating and prosecuting criminal acts, managing evidence and property, and courtroom security in the Municipal Court. In addition to our two plainclothes detectives, the TPD has one undercover agent assigned to the Fayette County Tactical Narcotics Team. Lt. Dean Johnson is responsible for the day to day operations of CID.
